Fresh Cranberry Sauce with Orange Juice

This homemade cranberry sauce is a classic. Made from fresh or frozen cranberries, spiced with cinnamon and sweetened with orange juice. Ready in just 20 minutes. Must have on your holiday table.

Cranberry sauce is an essential part of the holiday season. Its vibrant color and tangy flavor makes it wonderfully addictive, plus it's super healthy. Cranberries are a rich source of several vitamins and minerals especially vitamin C. This sauce goes well with grilled chicken, turkey, and beef. Have leftover turkey?  Mix some cranberry sauce with mayo and spread it on all turkey sandwiches.

Cranberry Sauce with Orange Juice

Flavored with orange and chili flakes, this cranberry sauce is a must on your holiday table. Easy to make ahead too!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp red chili flask
  • Zest of an orange
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan over high heat, bring the cranberry, water, sugar, orange juice, and the rest of the ingredients to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and boil gently for 10 to 12 minutes, until most of the cranberries have burst open. You may need to mash them a bit with a spoon.
  • Transfer sauce to a serving bowl. Cover and chill until ready to serve.

Notes

Cranberry sauce can be kept for 10 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can also be frozen for up to two months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before using.
